a. FAQ's

1. How quickly can my home be built?

On average, we require approximately 120 days to build a home; however weather, supplies, and other uncontrollable variables can extend the build period.

2. Can I put a reserve on a lot?

Yes, we require a $10,000.00 deposit to reserve a lot for 30 days. Once you confirm the purchase of your new home, the deposit can be put towards the first deposit outlined in the purchase agreement. If you choose not to proceed, you will receive a full refund less any fees for architectural changes you may have requested. These fees may be up to $1,200.00.

3. How customizable is the model we choose?

Custom homes are our specialty. Our helpful staff will work with you to customize your home to be one of kind and still ensure building codes are strictly met.

4. When can we make our color selections?

Color and tile selections need to be made no later than 30 days after initial sale is completed. This will ensure availability and faster build time.

5. How much of a down payment do Generation Homes require?

Through Tarion (Ontario New Home Warranty Program), new home buyers are protected against loss of deposits up to $40,000 should the sale of their home not be completed through no fault of your own.

Deposit 1 - Upon signing of agreement
Deposit 2 - 30 days after signing
Deposit 3 - 60 days after signing
Deposit 4 - 90 days after signing
*Please note larger estate homes may require a greater down payment.

6. Can our lawyer make changes to the agreement?

Your lawyer is free to suggest any changes; however any changes must be approved by our legal department.

7. Can we walk through the house during the construction?

Due to WSIB Regulations and insurance purposes, a home owner is not permitted on the premises until the home has had its final inspection or unless accompanied by a representative of Generation Homes. Note: a scheduled appointment is required.
